Hey! I'm Sam Hall.

I graduated from Halifax's NSCAD University in 2017 with a B.F.A. in Fine Arts and minors in Illustration and Art History.

I work in a variety of mediums that often overlap; most of my work incorporates both digital and traditional media. I am proficient with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and a little Flash; as well as watercolours, oil painting and screenprinting. I have just enough Toon Boom experience to help out with shadows.

I’m a full-time layout artist/BG Lead at Copernicus Studios, which means I draw the backgrounds for cartoons! Currently I'm designing locations for an upcoming [adult swim] production. I worked previously on S3 of Solar Opposites, several seasons of Curious George (we did the country segments!) and the Netflix Original Trailer Park Boys: the Animated Series. I've also helped out on Care Bears, Teen Titans GO! and an unannounced Nickelodeon pilot.

I sometimes table at local conventions, where I sell original t-shirts, dice-bags, and prints. I also draw 1$ lightning commissions before attendees’ very eyes! You may have seen me at Hal-con, Geequinox, Aubcon or DCAF.

Outside of art: I raced sprint kayak for the Canadian National Team for several years. I sometimes teach comics and animation workshops. I listen to a lot of podcasts. I like to cook. I have a pet lizard. It will not come as a surprise to you that I play a lot of Dungeons and Dragons.
